Warmpawz Founders on Reimagining India’s Pet Care Ecosystem Through Trust and Technology

Sunil Dcosta

4 Aug 2026

Sunil D’Costa, Editor, PetPitch India, speaks with Warmpawz founders about trust, technology, and India’s evolving pet care landscape.

Q. Could you introduce Warmpawz and explain the core problem you set out to solve in India’s pet care market?

Vikram Bellur: Warmpawz was born from a simple observation, sparked by a deeply personal experience. The turning point came when a close member of my family urgently needed to find blood for their pet, who required a life-saving transfusion. What surprised me wasn't just the emergency itself—it was the realization that despite being a pet parent for over eleven years, they still had no single place to turn to for help. The search became a frantic chain of WhatsApp groups, Facebook posts, phone calls, friends-of-friends, and referrals.

It made me ask a simple question: If finding something as critical as blood for a pet is this difficult, what does everyday pet parenting look like? Whether it's choosing the right veterinarian, finding a qualified behaviourist, selecting a reliable groomer, sourcing quality nutrition, or booking a trusted boarding facility, most pet parents still navigate a fragmented ecosystem built largely on recommendations and trial-and-error. There is very little standardisation, limited transparency, and almost no accountability. At the same time, I discovered another side of the story. Thousands of exceptional service providers—from independent veterinarians and trainers to groomers, nutritionists, walkers, and boarding centres—deliver outstanding care every day. Yet, many struggle with visibility, customer acquisition, and the digital tools needed to grow their businesses. Warmpawz was created to bridge these two worlds.

We are building a trusted, technology-enabled ecosystem that connects pet parents with verified service providers while empowering those businesses to grow sustainably. Our ambition isn't simply to build another vertical marketplace. We want to create a single destination where every stage of a pet parent's journey—from adoption to healthcare, training, nutrition, retail commerce, travel, lifestyle, and ageing—is connected through trust, choice, and convenience.

Q. What was the founding idea behind Warmpawz, and how did the three founders come together to build it?

Vikram Bellur: I spoke earlier about the incident that first made me think about Warmpawz. Once I started researching the problem, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Having spent nearly three decades in the IT industry, I had seen technology solve challenges across some of the world's most complex industries. I couldn't believe that an ecosystem as fragmented as pet care couldn't be brought together through the thoughtful application of technology. Whenever I find myself exploring complex technology problems, Ketan has always been one of the first people I turn to. Over the years, I've seen his remarkable ability to take seemingly impossible ideas and translate them into scalable, practical solutions. As we began mapping the marketplace, it became clear that this wasn't a conventional platform—it was almost like building three startups into a single architecture. We needed a platform that could support multiple user journeys, evolve with changing business models, and remain simple for both pet parents and service providers.

Ketan has been instrumental in architecting that foundation. His approach has given us a platform that is highly configurable, centrally managed, and capable of supporting our ambitions not just in India but in international markets as well.

Niranjan and I have known each other for over a decade, and throughout this journey, he brought something equally important—a pet parent's perspective. His experiences validated many of the challenges we had uncovered during our research, reinforcing our belief that we were solving a genuine problem. Beyond that, he has an exceptional ability to articulate the vision behind Warmpawz, build meaningful partnerships, and communicate the values we want the brand to stand for.

Looking back, Warmpawz came together because three very different strengths found a common purpose. I brought the vision and business experience, Ketan brought the technology and product architecture, and Niranjan brought the voice of the customer and the ability to build relationships. Together, we believed we could create something that would genuinely improve the way pet care works in India.

Q. Warmpawz describes itself as a trusted, tech-enabled ecosystem. What does that mean in practical terms for pet parents and service providers?

Ketan Hirani: Technology is often misunderstood as the product. For us, technology is simply the enabler. For pet parents, it means discovering verified professionals across multiple categories, comparing services, booking appointments, discovering new products, making secure payments and maintaining a consistent experience from one service to the next—all through a single platform. For service providers, it means much more than receiving leads. It gives them digital visibility, structured bookings, payment management, customer reviews, business insights and access to an ecosystem that helps them grow professionally. The word "ecosystem" is intentional because we are connecting services that traditionally operate independently. Veterinary care influences nutrition. Nutrition impacts behaviour and wellbeing. Behaviour affects grooming. Boarding relies on medical history. Every aspect of pet care is interconnected, and our platform is designed to reflect that reality.

Q. Trust and transparency are central to pet services. How is Warmpawz building verification, consistency, and reliability into the platform?

Niranjan Delavictoire: Trust cannot be claimed—it has to be earned through systems. Firstly, every service provider we speak with has been referred by Pet Parents. So we know that the first qualification is a pet parent who has used this service or product with no complaints.  Providers joining Warmpawz undergo a structured onboarding process with business verification, documentation checks and category-specific validation before becoming available on the platform. But verification is only the starting point. We believe trust grows through consistency. That is why we are building transparent customer ratings, verified reviews, service quality standards and clear pricing wherever possible. We also encourage providers to maintain high standards because their reputation becomes one of their strongest business assets within the platform. Our responsibility doesn't end once a booking is completed. We see ourselves as custodians of the experience, continuously listening to both pet parents and service providers to improve quality across the ecosystem.

Q.. For PetPitch India's B2B readers, what is the biggest gap in the Indian pet care ecosystem that Warmpawz is trying to address?

Vikram Bellur: The biggest gap is not demand. India's pet care market is expanding rapidly, and pet parents are increasingly willing to invest in quality care for their companions. The real gap is the absence of a connected ecosystem. Today, a pet parent may use one platform to buy food, rely on WhatsApp recommendations to find a veterinarian, search social media for a trainer, call friends to locate a boarding facility, and browse multiple websites for grooming or accessories. There simply isn't one trusted destination where they can discover everything they need throughout their pet parenting journey. On the other side, most service providers still operate independently with limited access to technology, structured customer acquisition, analytics, digital payments, cash management in Tier 2/Tier 3 cities, and scalable business processes. Many exceptional businesses remain local simply because they lack the tools and visibility to grow. Warmpawz is designed to bridge both gaps.

For pet parents, we are creating a single platform where every aspect of pet care—from adoption and healthcare to training, nutrition, boarding, lifestyle products, and beyond—comes together in one trusted ecosystem. For service providers, we are building the digital infrastructure that helps them grow sustainably while maintaining quality and transparency. We firmly believe these two objectives are interconnected. When service providers have the tools to succeed, they deliver better experiences. When pet parents have confidence that everything they need is available in one trusted place, the entire industry moves forward.

Q. How do you differentiate Warmpawz from traditional pet service providers and other digital pet care platforms?

Niranjan Delavictoire: Our differentiation begins with our philosophy. We are not trying to become the biggest veterinary chain, the largest retailer, or the biggest grooming business. Instead, we are building THE PLATFORM that enables all of them to participate in one connected ecosystem. Warmpawz is category agnostic. We bring together veterinary care, grooming, training, behaviour, nutrition, boarding, pet sitting, walking, adoption, lifestyle products, and much more under a single trusted experience. Equally important, we are designed to create value for both sides of the marketplace. Pet parents gain convenience and confidence. Service providers gain visibility, business growth, and digital capabilities. That balanced approach is what we believe will make the platform sustainable over the long term.

Q. What has been the biggest challenge in building Warmpawz so far, and what has that experience taught you as founders?

Vikram Bellur: The biggest challenge has been resisting the temptation to build quickly. Marketplaces are built on trust, and trust cannot be rushed. Every decision—from product design to onboarding standards—has required balancing growth with quality. It is easy to acquire numbers. It is much harder to build credibility. The experience has reinforced one important lesson for us. Listen before you build. Our beta programme, conversations with veterinarians, trainers, groomers, nutritionists and hundreds of pet parents have influenced many features that now exist within Warmpawz. The platform continues to evolve because we believe the ecosystem itself should shape the product.

Q. How are you thinking about growth on the supply side — especially onboarding and maintaining quality among service providers as the platform scales?

Ketan Hirani: Our approach is quality before quantity. I spoke about our entry-level criteria for hiring- should be referred. We are also intentionally building city by city rather than expanding everywhere at once. That allows us to understand local ecosystems, establish strong relationships with service providers, and maintain consistent standards. Onboarding is only one part of the equation. Long-term quality comes from continuous engagement, customer feedback, performance monitoring, and helping businesses succeed on the platform. We want providers to see Warmpawz not merely as a lead generation platform but as a long-term growth partner. If our service providers grow, Warmpawz grows with them.

Q.. As featured Entrepreneurs of the Month, what is your long-term vision for Warmpawz, and where do you see the brand in the next few years?

Niranjan Delavictoire: Our vision extends far beyond building another successful startup. We want Warmpawz to become India's most trusted pet care ecosystem—one that improves the lives of pets, empowers service providers, and gives every pet parent confidence that quality care and products are always within reach. I often think about how the world’s great marketplaces were built. Amazon, for example, did not become the destination it is today by trying to offer everything on day one.

It started with books, expanded into categories such as music and electronics, and kept building the marketplace brick by brick. Over time, it became a natural first destination for millions of consumers—even though those same consumers may still choose to buy certain products elsewhere. That is an important distinction for us. Our ambition is not to suggest that a pet parent will never visit another store, veterinarian, groomer, or specialist outside Warmpawz.

Our ambition is for Warmpawz to become the first place they think of when they need something for their pet. And we intend to earn that position category by category, city by city, and experience by experience.

Equally importantly, we want to help professionalise the industry by encouraging higher standards, greater transparency and stronger collaboration across every stakeholder. At the heart of everything we do is one simple belief. When we make life easier for pet parents and create sustainable growth for service providers, the biggest winners are the pets themselves. That is the future we are working towards every single day
